Little Tiffin opened in Greenpoint during the summer of 2020 and has become our go-to for Thai takeout and delivery in the neighborhood. If you’re looking for Thai breakfast or lunch, Thai Diner excels at both. We particularly love the cheesy egg sandwich with sausage on a roti, babka French toast drizzled in Thai tea glaze, and the aggressively delicious sandwich with chicken and banana blossom salad piled between its sesame seed buns. But Thai Diner is just as incredible for delivery dinner, when you can split creamy khao soi with rainbow chard, fried chicken larb, or cabbage rolls stuffed with citrusy ground turkey and mushrooms.

Soup is good and comforting, and we’d like to nominate it for dish of the week. If you need some, call Pye Boat Noodle in Astoria. Their boat noodles—with three kinds of pork in a fragrant broth—are especially worthwhile, but they also serve a few other soups, as well as some stuff like pad kee mao and dumplings. Specializing in Isan Thai food, Somtum Der in the East Village has, unsurprisingly, an impressive selection of somtum. Get one of those crisp, acidic papaya salads to start your meal (the standard tum thai is always a good choice), then go for the larb moo or the fried garlic pork with jasmine rice. This Thai spot in Bushwick specializes in small plates like grilled pork jowl and fried chicken, meant to be enjoyed with a few drinks. There’s an abundance of excellent options for around $15 on Tong’s dinner menu, and seeing them spread out on your dining room table will make you happier than a toddler with a carabiner full of keys. From charred-octopus skewers that taste like they just got back from skinny-dipping in a pool of chili-lime sauce to a crunchy, deep-fried, banana blossom fritter, there’s really no point in trying to pick favorites. In addition to takeout and delivery, Tong has a heated, covered sidewalk patio just a couple of blocks from the Jefferson Street L stop.

Chang Noi on Staten Island serves lunch and dinner takeout every day starting at 11:30am. It’s located right near the St. George SIR stop, in case you’re commuting and want to pick up some tom yum soup and red curry on your way home.

At this Williamsburg spot, focus on the noodle soups, and don’t look back. We particularly like the guay tao tom yum with fish balls, peanuts, and multiple kinds of pork and the khao soy. Make sure to supplement your soup with an order of Isan sausage. It’s thinly sliced and soaked in a citrusy marinade that elevates the dish like a person sitting on top of another person in a trenchcoat.

If you live in the East Village, you should be telling everyone you know about Soothr. It opened in early 2020, serving dishes you may not have seen before elsewhere in Manhattan like sukhotthai tom yum noodles and specialties from Bangkok’s Chinatown hub. Whatever you do, order the koong karee. This curry has a pleasantly gooey shrimp and egg consistency, and it makes for great leftovers with rice the next day.

SriPraPhai is a Woodside classic, and, after all these years, it’s still where you should be sharing a large plate of soft-shell crab and some fragrant pork leg that falls apart as soon as your prod it. They’re only offering pick-up right now, and you can place your order online or by calling 718-899-9599. This place is, however, cash-only, so be sure to bring enough money for dinner and some takeout desserts from the fridge on your way out. Also, they’re closed on Wednesdays.

Ayada is open, and this information should make you feel two to three times better than when you weren’t sure if you could order from this borderline-perfect Thai restaurant in Elmhurst. The drunken noodles are a non-optional order, and we highly suggest you order some curry and add duck. It’s crispy and bountiful, and you want it. For Thai takeout and delivery around Park Slope, Song is there for you. It’s a go-to in the area for a solid plate of pad see ew or massaman curry, and roughly 90% of the dishes on the menu cost less than $15. Don’t overthink this. Go online or call 718-965-1108 for pickup or delivery.

Lan Larb on Centre Street in Soho has kept Infatuation staff fed for many years now. Everything on the menu is great, but we particularly recommend the duck larb, the pad kee mao, and any of the side street noodle or curry options. Delivery is always fast, and the food shows up hot.

Maybe you’re currently sitting on a couch somewhere on the Upper West Side pondering massaman curry. Calling Sala Thai should be your next step. Their takeout menu has various curries and noodle dishes as well as some things you won’t find at many other Thai spots in the neighborhood like taro samosas and chocolate Thai tea lava cake. This is a particularly good option for lunch, since they have over a dozen specials that come with soup or salad and your choice of appetizer.

With the variety of food they serve, Lovely Day almost qualifies as a diner. This Nolita spot has edamame and miso soup, as well as seared salmon and flank steak with mashed potatoes. But mostly, Lovely Day is a Thai restaurant. It’s a go-to for a solid plate of pad thai or green curry. This exceptional Thai spot just south of Prospect Park also has everything from a whole steamed fish to half a roast chicken, and it’s currently doing both delivery and takeout. In case you’ve been put in charge of ordering takeout for a group, get THEP Thai’s appetizer platter that comes with spring rolls, pancakes, and various types of dumplings. It’s sort of like opting for “D, all of the above” on a takeout ordering test (and it’s always the right answer). Then make sure to order the panang curry with roast duck without telling anyone about it - it’s our favorite thing here and you’re not going to want to share.

At the northern end of the Upper East Side, Bangklyn serves some excellent tamarind coconut noodles with crab as well as some perfectly crunchy fried chicken with a sweet dipping sauce on the side. Order both of these things, and throw in a Vietnamese iced coffee if sitting exclusively in one corner of your apartment has left you sluggish. If you’re looking for a quick lunch or early dinner in Elmhurst, pick up some food from Khao Kang. For around $$13, you can choose three dishes that come with a side of rice, and there’s usually an optional fried egg you can throw on top of everything. If you like heat, focus on the curries—and the fried garlic pork is always an intelligent choice as well.

Another reliable Thai delivery spot on the UES is Up Thai on 2nd Avenue between 73rd and 74th Streets. Get the larb gai, which tastes bright and crunchy and will only get better as it sits in your fridge. If you’re sharing, the duck tamarind will probably be the crowd delivery favorite. It comes with crispy duck slices, a sweet tamarind sauce, and eggplant. Up Thai also has heat lamps outside.

The first thing you should know about Klom Klorm is that you need to get the curry puffs. They’re flaky and stuffed with chicken, and you could easily make a meal out of two orders. Considering it’s fairly difficult to secure a reservation in Wayla’s vacation-reminiscent back garden, ordering takeout or delivery is a useful option if you want to try their pla rard prik or whole fried branzino, and be sure to grab some moo sarong. Kitchen 79 in Jackson Heights has a massive menu ranging from Northern to Southern Thai, with everything from crispy soft shelled crab and baked spare ribs chili sauce to plenty of different soups (which you should get). Pickup and delivery start at 11:30am, and you can order online.

Whether it’s for takeout, delivery, or outdoor dining, the Red Hook location of Somtum Der is where you should be eating Thai food in the area. Just like their sister location, this place serves a bunch of somtum variations (including a good one with salted egg), as well as delicious larb moo.

Another option on the UES is Bua on 2nd Avenue. Not everything on the menu is strictly Thai (for example, they serve edamame, maki rolls, and ramen noodles topped with yellow curry), but you’ll find plenty of Thai delivery staples as well.
